Udaipur: More than 100 women from Udaipur city and surrounding rural areas participated in the Nari Samman and Sawan Mahotsav organized by the women’s wing of Shri Ekling Nath Rashtriya Seva Sangathan at the Chandreshwar Mahadev Temple on Monday.

The event focused on women’s dignity, safety, self-reliance and expanding the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign to rural communities. Participants expressed concern over crimes against women and girls and called for prompt and effective action by police and the administration. They also said women would come together and take to the streets if necessary to demand stronger measures for women’s safety.

Sangathan founder and president Akash Bagri said participants resolved to develop a concrete strategy to take the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign beyond urban areas. The initiative will focus on promoting girls’ education, safety and dignity while creating greater awareness among rural communities.

Bagri said the organization has been running the Nari Vaibhav campaign to promote women’s economic independence. Under the initiative, women have been provided vocational training in areas such as tailoring, beauty services and mehndi. The objective is not only to provide skills but also to connect women with employment opportunities and strengthen their financial independence.

During the Sawan Mahotsav, participants decided to expand the Nari Vaibhav campaign and bring more women from rural areas into vocational training programs.

The women said that women’s empowerment would be meaningful only when they have equal opportunities for safety, education and economic independence. They also urged all sections of society to encourage girls’ education and promote a positive attitude toward women.

The Sawan Mahotsav also featured cultural activities, giving participants an opportunity to interact, share concerns and discuss social issues collectively.

District vice president Rekha Dhakad, district secretary Jyoti Vaishnav, media in-charge Sarika Salvi, Pushpa Sonwal, Radha, Poonam Salvi, Tina Kunwar, Vishnu Khatik, Tina Meghwal, Sharda, Kaushalya, Anita and Rajni Sahu were among those present.
