Mumbai, The box office is witnessing an interesting battle between ‘Hanuman Ansh’ and ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’, with both films attracting audiences despite their vastly different budgets. The biographical devotional drama ‘Hanuman Ansh’, based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba, has continued its impressive run even after 30 days in theatres. According to Sacnilk figures cited in the report, the film collected ₹16.25 crore net in India on Saturday, its 30th day, from 6,055 shows. The Saturday collection was 62.5 per cent higher than Friday’s ₹10 crore, taking the film’s total domestic net collection to ₹99.13 crore. Its India gross collection has reached ₹117.27 crore. The film is now just ₹87 lakh short of the ₹100 crore net mark, with Sunday expected to be crucial for its entry into the ₹100 crore club. ₹2 crore budget, extraordinary returns What makes the film’s performance particularly remarkable is its reported budget of just ₹2 crore. If it crosses ₹100 crore in net domestic collections, the film will have delivered an extraordinary return compared with its production cost. Directed by Dr Vishal Chaturvedi, the devotional drama stars Shobhinav Satya as Neem Karoli Baba. The film’s box-office journey has been unusual. It earned ₹1.08 crore in its first week and ₹40 lakh in its second week before its collections began rising sharply. It collected ₹10.40 crore in the third week and reportedly jumped to ₹61 crore in the fourth week. The strong late surge has been attributed largely to positive word of mouth, which helped the film gain momentum well after its release. ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ sees strong second-day growth Meanwhile, ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ has opened strongly, benefiting from the popularity of the original web series. Directed by Gurmeet Singh, the gangster thriller collected ₹25.75 crore net on its opening day and increased its collection to ₹32 crore on Saturday, registering a 24.27 per cent rise. After two days, the film had reportedly collected ₹57.75 crore net and ₹69.30 crore gross in India. It also earned ₹10.25 crore gross overseas, taking its worldwide gross collection to ₹79.55 crore. The film features Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu Sharma, Ravi Kishan and Jitendra Kumar. Familiar characters such as Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Bhaiya and Munna Bhaiya have continued to generate strong audience reactions in theatres. However, with a reported budget of around ₹250 crore, the film still has a considerable distance to cover before it can be considered a hit or superhit. ‘Toxic’ struggles to maintain momentum Yash-starrer ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ is witnessing a comparatively weak run at the box office. On its 11th day, the film collected ₹2.04 crore net in India, up marginally from ₹1.75 crore on Friday. Its India gross collection reportedly stands at ₹290.20 crore, while the domestic net collection has reached ₹243.09 crore. The film has earned around ₹43.25 crore gross overseas, taking its worldwide gross collection to approximately ₹333.45 crore. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, ‘Toxic’ reportedly carries a budget of around ₹500 crore. The film stars Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth. With ‘Hanuman Ansh’ on the verge of crossing ₹100 crore domestically and ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ moving rapidly towards the worldwide ₹100 crore mark, Sunday is expected to be a significant day for both films at the box office.
