Udaipur: Jainacharya Shri Devendra Public School at Devendra Dham celebrated Janmashtami with religious fervour and enthusiasm, with young students arriving dressed as Lord Krishna and Radha.

School executive committee president Rajni Virendra Dangi and administrator Sangeeta Vardiya extended Janmashtami greetings to students, teachers and staff.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Surendra Muni urged children to draw inspiration from Lord Krishna’s life, particularly his ability to recognise good qualities in others, sense of duty and respect for parents.

He said Lord Krishna, the cousin of Jainism’s 22nd Tirthankara Lord Arishtaneminath, was not only known for his divine leelas but also for upholding dignity and duty. Referring to the Mahabharata, he said Krishna encouraged Arjuna to fulfil his duty when he hesitated before the battle of Kurukshetra.

Students presented a colourful skit, dances and songs based on Krishna’s life. Teachers Monika Lodha, Anju Gokharu, Reena Chaudhary and Sakshi Kumawat said the children participated enthusiastically.

Youth Council president Nirmal Gokharu expressed good wishes. Educational material and chocolates were distributed to all children at the end of the programme.
