Udaipur: The Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal in Udaipur resonated with devotional folk songs dedicated to Lord Krishna during a special Bhajan Sandhya organised on the eve of Krishna Janmashtami on Thursday.

The programme was held at 4:30 p.m. at the institution’s Govind Puppet Theatre. Artists of the Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal presented a series of traditional folk bhajans and devotional songs, captivating the audience and creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

The programme opened with soulful renditions of popular Krishna bhajans, followed by performances including “Yashomati Maiya Se Bole Nandlala,” “Radha Kyon Gori Main Kyon Kala,” “Meethe Ras Se Bhariyo Ri Radha Rani Lage,” “Radhika Gori Se Braj Ki Chhori Se,” “Sanwariya Seth De De,” “Govind Bolo Hari Gopal Bolo” and “Bada Natkhat Hai Krishna Kanhaiya,” among others.

The melodious music and devotional performances transformed the auditorium into a Krishna-themed spiritual space. Residents, art and culture enthusiasts and other visitors attended the event and enthusiastically applauded the artists.

Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal Director Dr. Laiq Hussain said the institution regularly organises programmes aimed at preserving, promoting and popularising folk art, folk music and India’s rich cultural traditions.

He said the Bhajan Sandhya was organised to connect people with the country’s folk music and devotional heritage on the occasion of Janmashtami. Devotional music holds a special place in India’s folk traditions, he said, adding that folk bhajans provide an effective way of passing the country’s cultural heritage to younger generations.
