— People Turn Out in Large Numbers to Watch Gavari

Udaipur, The third day of the Shri Krishna Janmashtami Mela Mahotsav at Pratap Gaurav Kendra ‘Rashtriya Teerth’ was dedicated to Gavari, the traditional folk ritual of Mewar, and was filled with devotion, enthusiasm and a deep sense of cultural heritage.

Pratap Gaurav Kendra Director Anurag Saxena said that the ongoing fair, organised under Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Samiti, Udaipur, received the benefit of the Sunday holiday on its third day, with the venue witnessing a heavy rush since morning. The stalls remained crowded with visitors, while children thronged the Chakri-Dolar rides along with enjoying shopping activities.

The Gavari ritual began in the afternoon during the Abhijit Muhurat. Various traditional episodes, including Homa, Hatyo, Kalu Ker, Kanu-Goojri, Maharana Pratap, Bhamariyo-Bhamari, Lakha Vanjara, Chor-Police, Vanjaro and others, were presented before Mata Gauri and Shivji as part of the ritual.

Social worker Ganesh Kharadi from Hawalakhurd and RNT General Physician Dr. Ganesh Kuriya took responsibility for the arrangements.

Mahotsav Co-convener Himmat Singh said that on the third day, renowned poet Vineet Chauhan from Alwar, RNT Medical College Principal Dr. Rahul Jain, and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Vibhag Sanghchalak Hemendra Shrimali were present as guests.

RNT General Physician Performs in the Gavari Troupe

Co-convener Jaswant Singh Pundir said that Dr. Ganesh Kuriya, General Physician at RNT, was also a member of the Gavari troupe from Hawalakhurd that had undertaken the Gavari vow. He traditionally performs the role of the lion, Mataji ki Sawari. On Sunday, during the Gavari performance at Pratap Gaurav Kendra, he portrayed an associate of Maharana Pratap in the episode depicting Maharana Pratap.

Gavari Performers Felicitated

Palak Adhikari Pankaj Paliwal said that all the Gavari performers were felicitated on behalf of Pratap Gaurav Kendra. As per tradition, Peravani was also performed.

On the occasion, Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Samiti President Prof. Bhagwati Prakash Sharma, social worker Shambhu Gameti, and Pratap Gaurav Shodh Kendra Superintendent Dr. Vivek Bhatnagar were present.
