Udaipur: The Department of Apparel and Textile Science, College of Community and Applied Sciences (CCAS), Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, organised a two-day Rakhi Making Workshop on August 20 and 21, 2026. Around 50 students participated enthusiastically in the workshop.
The workshop aimed to promote creativity, handicraft skills, designing abilities and an entrepreneurial mindset among students. Participants received practical training in making a variety of attractive and innovative rakhis.
College Dean Dr. Sarla Lakhawat reviewed the rakhis prepared by the students and appreciated their creativity and enthusiasm. Congratulating the participants, she said that skill-based activities such as these help build confidence, creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit among students.
The workshop was organised under the guidance of Department Head Dr. Rupal Babel. Experts Dr. Rupali Rajvanshi and Dr. Meenakshi Mishra provided hands-on training in various rakhi-making techniques, design selection, colour combinations, use of decorative materials and finishing techniques.
Students created colourful and innovative rakhis using threads, beads, ribbons, decorative items and a variety of textile materials. The workshop also introduced students to opportunities for self-employment and small-scale entrepreneurship, along with developing their creative skills.
Dr. Rupal Babel said that such workshops are aimed not only at providing technical training but also at equipping students with practical skills that can help them become self-reliant and entrepreneurial.
The workshop proved to be a meaningful initiative towards fostering creativity, skill development, self-reliance and entrepreneurship among students.
