Country’s and world’s leading integrated zinc producer Hindustan Zinc unveils exclusive Zinc Finisher Medal | Over ₹3.5 lakh in prize money | AIMS-certified marathon to see participation from runners across India and abroad Udaipur. The City of Lakes is gearing up for another high-energy sporting spectacle as the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon crosses the 7,000-registration mark ahead of its third edition on September 6, 2026. With runners from across India and overseas expected to participate, the AIMS-certified marathon will bring together competitive athletes, fitness enthusiasts, corporate teams, families and first-time runners against the picturesque backdrop of Udaipur. Hindustan Zinc Limited shared key details of the upcoming marathon at a press conference in Udaipur and unveiled the specially designed 2026 Zinc Finisher Medal, adding another distinctive element to the event. More than ₹3.5 lakh in prize money will be awarded across various competitive categories. Every participant who completes the race will also receive the exclusive Zinc Finisher Medal, designed to celebrate both the achievement of the runners and Udaipur’s deep association with the zinc industry. A Medal Inspired by Mines and Smelters The Zinc Finisher Medal has become an integral part of the marathon’s identity, reflecting the heritage of Zinc City Udaipur and its rich mining legacy. Continuing this tradition, the 2026 medal draws inspiration from Hindustan Zinc’s mines and smelters. Designed as a symbol of endurance, dedication and perseverance, the medal will also serve as a lasting memento of the runners’ experience in Udaipur. Three Race Categories, Thousands of Runners The marathon will feature three principal race categories — the 21-km Half Marathon, 10-km Cool Run and 5-km Dream Run & Champion Run. The event will bring together professional and amateur runners, corporate groups, running communities, families and participants taking their first steps into the world of long-distance running. The previous edition witnessed participation from nearly 7,000 runners representing 27 states and several countries. Organisers expect another strong turnout this year, with runners travelling to Udaipur from different parts of the country and abroad. Running Through Udaipur’s Most Scenic Landscape What sets the Zinc City Half Marathon apart is its setting. The route around Fateh Sagar Lake, with the Aravalli hills and Udaipur’s historic landscape in the backdrop, offers runners an experience that goes beyond competition. The combination of the city’s lakes, hills and heritage has helped establish the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon among India’s most scenic running events, while also creating an opportunity to showcase Udaipur as a destination for sports and wellness tourism. ‘Run for Zero Hunger’ Returns The marathon will once again carry forward its social message of ‘Run for Zero Hunger’, using sport as a platform to create awareness around nutrition and the prevention of malnutrition. In the run-up to the event, more than 3,000 people participated in promotional runs and community activities organised across Udaipur, Jaipur, Uttarakhand and various Hindustan Zinc locations. Employees, running communities and fitness enthusiasts actively participated in these initiatives. Bib Expo on September 4 and 5 The Bib Expo for registered participants will be held at Field Club, Zinc City Udaipur. September 4: 12 noon to 6 pm September 5: 10 am to 7 pm Participants will be able to collect their race bibs and complete the necessary race formalities at the expo. Hindustan Zinc CEO Amrendu Prakash said the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon has established itself as one of India’s most scenic marathons.
