Udaipur: The Dawoodi Bohra community in Udaipur joined Muslims across the world in commemorating the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi. More than 500 community members from different professions and neighbourhoods, particularly Izzi and Moyiypura, participated enthusiastically in a commemorative procession.

The procession began at the Syedi Lukmanji Saheb Dargah and passed through Bohrawadi, Ashwini Bazaar and Hathipole before concluding at Saifee Hall. Members of the traditional community band accompanied the procession, while school students also participated, marching with the national flag.

Across Udaipur and around the world, members of the Dawoodi Bohra community gathered at local mosques and community centres to mark the occasion. They listened to recorded sermons by the late 51st leader, Syedna Taher Saifuddin, and the 52nd leader, His Holiness Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin. The sermons reflected on the exemplary life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

Community member Hasan Hamid said the Prophet’s life and teachings, centred on compassion, justice and humanity, continue to serve as a guiding light for Muslims.

“We are constantly reminded to strive to become responsible and productive citizens who contribute positively to the wider society and reflect these values in our daily lives,” he said.

As part of the celebrations, community members also visited Udaipur General Hospital and served meals to more than 300 patients and their families.

Community representatives additionally visited the Hathipole and Dhanmandi police stations, distributed sweets and expressed their gratitude to the local police administration for ensuring the peaceful and smooth conduct of the procession.

The celebrations reflected the community’s devotion to the Prophet’s teachings while highlighting values of compassion, social responsibility, community service and harmony.
