###Mock Drill at Zinc Smelter Debari with ATS for Terrorist Attack and Hostage Rescue

In a strategic move to enhance readiness, Hindustan Zinc Limited organized a mock drill at the Zinc Smelter Debari in collaboration with the Rajasthan Police ATS. This joint exercise aimed to simulate a terrorist attack and hostage rescue operation, testing the security, rescue, medical, and other emergency response (EMR) teams’ preparedness.

At approximately 2:35 PM, a simulated alert was issued regarding a terrorist infiltration at the plant. Following this, Senior Vice President and Chief Security Officer of Vedanta Group, Gopal Prasad Chaudhary, along with Debari SBU Head Amit Wali, were briefed by Chief Security Officer Anoop K.R. and his team, including Ankita Sahu, Ritu Arora, and Shivam Tiwari, about the potential threats. Upon detecting the infiltration through CCTV surveillance, the control room swiftly activated emergency communication protocols and alerted the CSO and the Emergency Response Team (ERT). At 2:45 PM, local police were informed, who then escalated the matter to ATS Udaipur and other relevant agencies. The intelligence team, CSO, and police provided detailed information to the ATS, highlighting the severe threat.

The ATS team, comprising 20 commandos led by Kailash and Bhanu Pratap, outlined the objectives and plans for the mock drill. Under the guidance of HSE Head Digambar Patil and team members Manikandan, Rahul, and Abdul, a secure perimeter was immediately established. The ATS then coordinated with all agencies to develop a tactical hostage rescue plan. Two separate teams were formed to strategically enter the hostage location from different points. The rescue operation team successfully evacuated all hostages safely and neutralized the threat without any casualties.

Following the operation, a joint debriefing session was conducted, during which ATS Udaipur provided valuable insights and feedback. Hindustan Zinc Debari expressed heartfelt gratitude to ATS Udaipur and all participating teams for their dedication and professionalism. The site medical team, led by CMO Sumeet Siroya, was present on-site throughout the drill.

This mock drill not only tested the response capabilities of Hindustan Zinc’s personnel and key stakeholders but also reinforced the importance of coordinated efforts in ensuring safety and security.
