Election Officials Prepare to Combat Fake News Ahead of 2024 General Elections

The Chief Election Officer, Praveen Gupta, held a meeting with media coordinators from all electoral areas to discuss strategies to counter fake news during the upcoming general elections. Key topics included identifying fake news, preventing its spread, and the role of law enforcement in curbing misinformation. Training sessions were conducted to equip officials with the necessary tools to spot fake news and address it effectively.

During the meeting, discussions also revolved around the ban on exit polls from April 19th to June 1st, as mandated by the Election Commission of India. Gupta emphasized the importance of adhering to this directive to prevent premature disclosure of election outcomes and maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
