####Successful Treatment of Complex Sinus Disease at GMCH Udaipur Brings Relief to Woman

Udaipur: Doctors at Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) have successfully treated a 43-year-old woman from Jalore suffering from a complicated sinus condition, providing her significant relief.

The patient had been experiencing increasing swelling on her forehead, double vision, and swelling of the eyelids for the past 10 days. She had also been suffering from severe, persistent headaches for nearly three months. Earlier, she underwent treatment at a private hospital, where a needle procedure was performed to drain pus from the swelling, but it did not improve her condition.

On April 23, 2026, she visited GMCH’s ENT department, where she was admitted under the care of Dr. Ankush Pandit. Detailed examinations, including nasal endoscopy and CT and MRI scans, revealed a mucus mass in the frontal sinus, along with fungal infection and bone infection, making the case highly complex.

Given the severity, consultations were also taken from neurosurgery and ophthalmology specialists, as the infection had spread to the bones around the forehead and eyes.

On April 25, 2026, a team of ENT surgeons—Dr. Ankush Pandit, Dr. Gautam Swami, and Dr. Prakhar Mathur—performed an advanced endoscopic sinus surgery. During the procedure, the fungal infection was removed, and the frontal sinus was opened to extract the accumulated mucus mass.

During surgery, it was discovered that the infection had eroded both the front and back bones of the forehead, exposing the lining near the brain. Additionally, the thin bone between the eye and nose had been damaged, making the surgery extremely challenging and high-risk. Despite this, the operation was successfully completed using advanced endoscopic equipment available at GMCH.

Post-surgery, the patient remained stable and showed rapid improvement. After suffering for months, she and her family expressed relief and satisfaction with the successful treatment. She was discharged from the hospital after completing all necessary formalities.
