World No Tobacco Day and Ahilyabai Holkar Jayanti Celebrated

Udaipur | Under the "Mahila Milan" program of Bharat Vikas Parishad Subhash Branch, World No Tobacco Day was observed with a focus on awareness and women's participation. Speaking on the occasion, former Principal Kiran Dashora highlighted the severe ill effects of tobacco, calling it a termite that silently kills around 4,000 people daily in India. She stressed that women can play a vital role in tobacco control and thus save lives.


Simultaneously, the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar was commemorated. Former Provincial President Dr. Rajshree Gandhi shed light on Ahilyabai’s inspiring life, stating that a woman, through willpower and wisdom, can contribute significantly to public welfare within her domain.

During the event, the newly appointed “Vikas Mitras” of the year, Rekha Dhakad and Santosh Goyal, were felicitated for their contributions. As part of the Environmental Fortnight, an appeal to avoid plastic was made, and cloth bags were distributed.

A special session on solar cooking was conducted by Council Vice President Dr. Manju Jain, who has been preparing meals using solar energy for the last 42 years. She explained various dishes that can be made using solar cookers and recited her environmental poem titled “Ped Lagao Ao Behno Ped Lagao”, which was followed by environmental slogans.

Dr. Rajshree Gandhi led the attendees in an oath for environmental protection. Treasurer Nirbhay Singh Babel marked his birthday by planting a tree and also arranged snacks for the participants of Mahila Milan.

The program was gracefully conducted at Vivek Park by Women Leaders Rekha Dhakad and Sushila Agrawal.

Dr. Manju Jain, Anjana Nagda, Sudha Agrawal, Kiran Raka, Kiran Dashora, Maina Vaya, Dr. Rajshree Gandhi, Dr. Ranjana Kothari, Neetu Chittoda, Sushila Agrawal, Asha Babel, Rekha Dhakad, Meera Kaushik, Sarla Bathiya, Manjula Darak, and Santosh Goyal.
Secretary Shobha Lal Dashora and Treasurer Nirbhay Babel were also present.
