###Robotic Knee Replacement Showing Highly Positive Outcomes

Udaipur: Robotic knee replacement surgery is delivering highly encouraging results, said Dr. Ashish Singhal, Consultant Robotic Knee Replacement Surgeon at Paras Health Hospital, while addressing an awareness session organized by Rotary Club Udaipur at Rotary Bajaj Bhawan.

Speaking on the topic “How to Take Care of Your Knee Joints”, Dr. Singhal emphasized that early medical consultation at the onset of knee pain can prevent further deterioration of the joints. He expressed concern that nearly 30% of patients under the age of 30 are now experiencing knee-related problems, largely due to unhealthy habits and lack of regular exercise.

Dr. Singhal explained that pain caused by the wearing down of joint cartilage is known as osteoarthritis. Early symptoms include knee pain and cracking sounds while bending. Age, genetics, and body weight play significant roles in the development of knee osteoarthritis. While age and heredity are beyond control, maintaining a healthy weight is within one’s control and plays a crucial preventive role.

“When cartilage wears out, knee pain increases significantly. In nearly 97% of cases, the pain begins on the inner side of the knee,” he noted. Highlighting the importance of weight management, Dr. Singhal stated that reducing even one kilogram of body weight decreases pressure on the knees by nearly seven times. He recommended cycling as an effective low-impact exercise and advised knee pain patients to avoid sitting on the floor or squatting.

Sharing advancements in treatment, Dr. Singhal said robotic knee replacement surgery has shown remarkably positive results. Over the past two years, more than 1,600 robotic knee surgeries have been successfully performed at the hospital. The precision offered by robotic technology ensures better alignment, faster recovery, and improved long-term outcomes for patients.

He concluded by encouraging people to adopt healthier lifestyles — eat balanced meals, reduce excessive mobile usage, play correctly, run safely, and engage in regular physical activity.

Earlier, Rotary Club President Deepak Mehta welcomed the gathering and stressed the importance of timely medical consultation for the growing incidence of knee problems. Mrs. Rajendra Chauhan presented the invocation prayer. Assistant Governor Anil Chhajed introduced Dr. Singhal, while M.C. Singhvi presented a memento to the guest speaker. The vote of thanks was delivered by Joint Secretary Surendra Jain. Several Rotary members were present during the session.
