####National Webinar on Earth Day Organized by The Bharat Scouts and Guides Headquarters

Udaipur/New Delhi/On the occasion of Earth Day, a national webinar was organized by the The Bharat Scouts and Guides Central Headquarters. This year’s theme, “Our Planet – Our Power,” inspired meaningful discussions on environmental responsibility.

Addressing the webinar, Dr. Anil Mehta, Principal of Vidya Bhawan Polytechnic and an environmental conservationist, emphasized that Earth should not merely be viewed as a “planet,” but revered as “Mother Earth.” He highlighted that such a perspective naturally fosters a sense of service, gratitude, and responsibility, which is essential for building a healthy, prosperous, and harmonious world.

Dr. Mehta pointed out alarming environmental concerns, stating that nearly 75% of the Earth’s land has already been degraded due to unplanned development and human greed. He warned of a looming global water crisis, noting the continuous depletion of natural resources such as lakes, rivers, forests, mountains, and oceans. He also remarked that globally, for every one unit spent on conserving nature, nearly thirty units are spent on activities that harm it.

Referring to Mission LiFE, introduced by Narendra Modi, Dr. Mehta stressed the urgent need to shift from “mindless consumption” to “mindful and responsible use.” He urged individuals to adopt environmentally conscious practices in personal, professional, and public life.

Promoting a green lifestyle, he advocated for a plastic-free life, reducing food wastage, adopting chemical-free habits, minimizing consumption, and embracing recycling. He also underlined the hidden water footprint in food and clothing production, encouraging people to follow simple yet impactful principles like “Save Food – Save Water” and “Buy Less – Use Longer.”

The webinar witnessed enthusiastic participation from youth and adolescents across the country, who pledged to incorporate sustainable habits into their daily lives.

Earlier, the session began with an address by Dr. Darshana Pawaskar, National Director of The Bharat Scouts and Guides, who elaborated on the significance and objectives of Earth Day.
