Grand Diwali Mela Begins Today at Udaipur Nagar Nigam Ground

Udaipur,  The much-awaited Diwali Mela organized by the Udaipur Nagar Nigam commenced today with grandeur, colors, and excitement. The 15-day long celebration, starting from October 9 to October 23, aims to bring together culture, devotion, and entertainment under one festive roof.

Nagar Nigam Secretary announced that this year’s mela has been designed to offer a unique blend of traditional and modern performances. From the soulful rhythms of Indian Ocean Band and Fakira Khan with Manganiyar artists representing the folk spirit of Marwar, to the energetic Bollywood tunes of Sachet–Parampara, every evening promises a new flavor of festivity.

Between October 11 and 16, the mela ground will turn into a stage of cultural brilliance, where devotional singers Lakhwinder Singh Lakha and Swati Mishra will present Bhakti Vandana, filling the atmosphere with divine melodies.

Adding to the charm, the Maha Aarti will be introduced as a new tradition this year. Inspired by the holy Ganga Ghat Aarti of Varanasi and Mahakal Aarti of Ujjain, this grand ceremony will be performed on the final day, symbolizing devotion and purity during the Diwali season.

Apart from the cultural lineup, the mela also offers amusement rides, delicious food stalls, and traditional shopping outlets that reflect the festive spirit of Udaipur. The Nagar Nigam has made special arrangements for traffic management and parking near Shramjeevi College and Kasturba Hospital grounds to ensure a hassle-free experience for visitors.

The Secretary further mentioned that the mela is not just a source of entertainment but also a celebration of Udaipur’s rich heritage. “Our aim is to create a joyful atmosphere where people from all walks of life can come together and celebrate the festival of lights,” he added.

With vibrant decorations, enthusiastic participation from local artists, and overwhelming response from citizens, the Diwali Mela promises to light up the city with joy, devotion, and togetherness for the next fifteen days.
