Udaipur, Under the supervision of District and Session Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Mr. Chanchal Mishra, the inauguration of the National Lok Adalat took place in Udaipur headquarters with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Ms. Saraswati on Saturday.
Secretary of the Authority, Mr. A.D. Kuldeep Sharma, shared that a total of 3481 cases were resolved in this National Lok Adalat, resulting in awards totaling approximately ₹26.44 crores. Notably, the pre-litigation settlement of 869 cases related to Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited was a significant part of the proceedings. The cases involved a substantial pending electricity bill amounting to ₹1.5 crores, and the consumers, in turn, deposited ₹76 lakhs in cash while also receiving relief of ₹74 lakhs.
Officials from Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited and various departments including revenue, I.M. Mansoori, assistant engineers, and revenue officers from Debari, Girwa, Madri, Ashok Nagar, Sector No. 4, Ambamata, Savina, Power House I and II, Badgaon, Madhuvan, and other electricity departments were present during the event.
Mr. Kuldeep Sharma, the Secretary of the Authority, and Mr. Arvind Poswala, the District Collector, informed that a total of 34 benches were established in the Udaipur headquarters and tehsil-level courts for the successful organization of the National Lok Adalat. They highlighted the proactive participation of judicial officers and advocates from Udaipur who worked pro bono during the event.
It was emphasized that the resolutions in the National Lok Adalat are final, and there is no provision for appeals. The court fees paid by the parties are also returned upon the resolution of the case. The event not only facilitates the clearance of pending cases but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and goodwill among the parties involved.
In addition to the National Lok Adalat, revenue cases from Udaipur district were also resolved in Lok Adalats organized in revenue courts, following the directives issued earlier.
