###Maharana Arvind Singh Mewar Decoration Announced

Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Chairman and Managing Trustee of the Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, has announced the institution of a prestigious national honour, the “Maharana Arvind Singh Mewar Decoration,” in the sacred memory of his father, the 76th Custodian of Shri Eklingji and former head of the House of Mewar.

The decoration will recognise individuals or institutions that have made outstanding contributions in the fields of tourism, hospitality, heritage conservation and sustainable development.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar stated that Maharana Arvind Singh Mewar was widely admired as a visionary leader whose work extended across hospitality, heritage management, environmental conservation, education, sports and philanthropy. Through his pioneering initiatives, he played a vital role in promoting sustainable tourism and heritage hospitality, helping position Udaipur and Rajasthan prominently on the global tourism map.

In 1984, Maharana Arvind Singh Mewar introduced “heritage hospitality” as a powerful and sustainable model for tourism development, giving a new direction to heritage conservation. He believed that heritage structures should not merely be preserved but should remain vibrant and meaningful for society and future generations.

Under his dynamic leadership, the HRH Group of Hotels expanded remarkably and emerged as one of India’s largest privately owned heritage hotel chains. He also transformed the City Palace, Udaipur, into a world-class museum, presenting the cultural legacy of Mewar on an international platform.

Continuing this legacy and vision, the first “Maharana Arvind Singh Mewar Decoration” will be conferred upon Mr. Punit Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of The Indian Hotels Company Limited, in recognition of his exceptional leadership and significant contribution to India’s tourism and hospitality sector.

The national honour will be presented on March 15, 2026, at Manak Chowk, City Palace, Udaipur, during the 42nd Annual Awards Ceremony of the Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation.
