Udaipur, The Government of India has implemented the Immigration and Foreigners Act Orders and Rules 2025, effective from September 1. Under its provisions, strict action will be taken against those who fail to provide information about foreign nationals.
Additional Superintendent of Police, CID Special Branch Zone Udaipur and Foreigners Registration Officer, Dr. Vikram Singh, informed that the Act mandates reporting of foreign nationals staying at hotels, resorts, guest houses, hostels, schools, colleges, institutes, hospitals, nursing homes, home stays, and private residences. Compliance with these provisions is compulsory.
He further stated that operators of hotels, resorts, guest houses, hostels, and private accommodations in Udaipur city must provide information about all foreign nationals (including OCI card holders, citizens of Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet) staying at their premises within 24 hours to the concerned office. Failure to do so will invite a fine of ₹50,000 under Section 08 and Rule 17 of the Act.
Similarly, non-reporting of details of foreign students enrolled in schools, colleges, or institutes will attract a fine of up to ₹1,00,000 under Section 09 and Rule 16. Hospitals and nursing homes failing to provide information about foreign nationals admitted for treatment will face a fine of ₹1,00,000 under Section 10 and Rule 18.
Provisions for Foreign Nationals
Entry into India without a passport or valid documents: 5 years imprisonment or a fine up to ₹5 lakh, or both (Section 21).
Overstaying beyond visa validity or illegal entry: 3 years imprisonment or a fine up to ₹3 lakh, or both (Section 23).
Violation of tourist visa conditions by engaging in unauthorized activities: fine up to ₹50,000 or both (Section 06).
Employment on visas other than Employment Visa: fine up to ₹3 lakh.
Engaging in Tablighi, journalism, missionary or similar activities without prior approval: fine of ₹50,000.
Entry into restricted or protected areas without permission: fine between ₹50,000 and ₹3 lakh.
Failure to register with the Foreigners Registration Office while residing in India: penalty between ₹10,000 and ₹3 lakh.
Foreign students overstaying in India: penalty between ₹10,000 and ₹3 lakh.
ASP Dr. Singh added that for more information, concerned persons may visit the office of the Additional SP, CID (Special Branch) Zone Udaipur & Foreigners Registration Officer at Room No. 310, District Collectorate, Udaipur, on any working day. He stressed that strict compliance with the Act is expected from all concerned, and legal action will be initiated against any violations.
