Udaipur, The Anand Marg Pracharak Sangh, Udaipur Diocese Unit successfully concluded its eight-day continuous Ashtakshari Akhand Kirtan at the Jagruti Complex on Tekri-Madri Road, which commenced on October 1, 2025, to mark the 55th Kirtan Day. The event concluded on Wednesday, October 8, at 6 PM.
The kirtan featured the “Baba Naam Kevalam” Ashtakshari Siddha Mahamantra, chanted continuously for one prahari (three hours) each day from October 1 to October 8.
Bhukti Pradhan Dr. S.K. Verma explained that this Mahamantra was first revealed by Shri Shri Anandmurti Ji, founder of Anand Marg, on October 8, 1970, at Amjharia, Jharkhand. The practice of kirtan is an integral part of the daily lives of followers in over 180 countries. Kirtans include various forms such as Akhand Kirtan, Avart Kirtan, Katha Kirtan, and Nagar Kirtan.
At Udaipur Jagruti, this event marked the 555th consecutive weekly one-prahari Akhand Kirtan, a milestone of pride for the organization, as no other Jagruti center globally has conducted such a long-standing combined weekly and eight-day Akhand Kirtan.
On Kirtan Day, morning processions (Prabhat Feri) were also organized in the surrounding residential colonies of the Jagruti Complex.
Diocese Secretary Acharya Randevanand Avadhoot stated that kirtan benefits not only humans but also all living beings and elements of nature. When performed with full devotion and in a lyrical, meditative manner, kirtan achieves siddhi (spiritual perfection), and devotees can also experience the resonance of the Omkar sound.
Advocate Parijat Mishra from Prayagraj highlighted the significance and various aspects of kirtan during the event.
On the final day, devotees from the Mewari community and other attendees enjoyed the positive energy created by the uninterrupted kirtan. The event concluded with collective prayers, meditation on letters (Varṇadhyān), and self-study (Swadhyay). Participants also resolved to spread the flow of devotional kirtan to people far and wide.
