Congress Lodges Complaint Regarding Violation of Electoral Code of Conduct

Udaipur, the Congress party submitted a memorandum to the Election Supervisor and Assistant Election Officer of the Udaipur Lok Sabha constituency, regarding the violation of the electoral code of conduct.

Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit, the Congress spokesperson for rural Udaipur district, explained that the memorandum was issued in response to the alleged breach of conduct by facilitating the former unsuccessful candidate in the local body elections, who had violated regulations within the Land Development Bank. The Congress demanded appropriate action against this act by submitting a memorandum to Mr. Owais Ahmad, the Election Supervisor for the Udaipur Lok Sabha constituency, and Mr. Deependra Singh Rathore, the Assistant Election Officer for the Udaipur Lok Sabha constituency.

According to Mr. Mathuresh Nagda, the former chairman of the Land Development Bank, the elections for the local body were announced in June 2023, leading to the formation of the local body assembly with 55 elected members. After the formation of the assembly, the nomination process for the director's position commenced on June 28th, 2023, with 15 members filing their nominations. However, their nominations were rejected by the election officials. Subsequently, out of those 15 nominees, nine members approached the honorable court. The honorable court ordered the completion of the director's position and further election process on December 2nd, 2023. However, due to the state assembly elections, the election process could not be completed at that time. Despite more than three months passing after the state assembly elections, the election process was neither completed nor the winning members were given charge. Instead, on April 16th, 2024, the former chairman of the Land Development Bank, who lost in the previous elections and is not even a member of the local body assembly, was unlawfully appointed as the chairman. This action was completely unjustified as the chairman could be elected from among the members of the elected assembly, and due to the electoral code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections, it is currently not possible. Nevertheless, this was done disregarding the rules.

The memorandum was issued under the leadership of Udaipur city district Congress president Fateh Singh Rathore, rural Udaipur district Congress president Kachru Lal Choudhary, former chairman of the Land Development Bank Mathuresh Nagda, former member of the Maharana Pratap Board Gopal Singh Chauhan, former vice chairman of the Agriculture Market Mod Singh Sisodia, former deputy district head Shyam Lal Choudhary, former vice president of the Purchase and Sale Dinesh Nagda, K.C. Joshi, Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit, former councilor Madan Babarwal, and Gauri Shankar Patel.
