Udaipur, The two-day masterclass titled “Sperm: The Silent Half”, jointly organized by the Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction (ISAR) and Pacific Medical University, was inaugurated on Saturday at Lalgarh Palace Resort & Spa. The masterclass focused on challenges in male reproductive health and technological solutions to address them.
The formal inauguration included a lighting of the lamp ceremony, attended by Chief Guest Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, distinguished guests PMU Chairpersons Rahul Agarwal and Preeti Agarwal, ISAR President Dr. Amit Patki, Secretary Dr. Asha Bakshi, Embryology Chair Dr. Charudatt Joshi, PMU President Dr. M.M. Mangal, and Pacific IVF Director and Masterclass Organizer Dr. Manisha Vajpeyi.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar emphasized the growing importance of research and discussion on male reproductive health. He noted that such events help raise societal awareness and ensure the topic reaches beyond the medical community to the general public.
PMU Chairperson Rahul Agarwal highlighted that Pacific Medical University has always promoted innovative, research-driven initiatives. He said, “This masterclass will serve as a milestone in the field of male reproductive medicine.”
ISAR President Dr. Amit Patki stated that male reproductive health has long been neglected, and the time has come to give it equal importance. He added, “Through ‘Sperm: The Silent Half,’ we are striving to break this silence.”
On the first day, technical sessions featured experts from across the country discussing sperm analysis, cryopreservation, advanced sperm selection technologies, and the latest techniques in treating male infertility.
Dr. Manisha Vajpeyi, organizer of the masterclass, said that leading reproductive specialists and scientists presented in-depth discussions on the latest research, techniques, and clinical challenges related to male fertility.
In the first technical session, Dr. Rajiv Mehta delivered a lecture on “Semen Analysis to Sperm Preparation: From WHO Basics to Washing It Right,” emphasizing that proper sperm preparation is critical for successful conception. Dr. Madhuri Patil shared her insights on “Functional Sperm Tests to Clinical Practice: Do They Really Impact Pregnancy Outcomes?” highlighting the role of modern testing methods in assessing fertility potential.
The second session focused on the complex aspects of male infertility. Dr. Gaurav Majumdar presented on “Choosing the Champion: Advanced Sperm Selection”, explaining how selecting the right sperm enhances conception success. Dr. Asha Bakshi spoke on “Unexplained Infertility: Is the Male Factor in Disguise?”, emphasizing that male factors often remain hidden in cases of unexplained infertility and require further research.
During the interactive panel discussion, renowned experts from across India stressed the need for better coordination between laboratory procedures and clinical practice.
