Udaipur. On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, Paras Health Udaipur organised an impactful health talk to raise awareness about the rapidly increasing burden of diabetes in India. The session, conducted by the Department of Endocrinology, highlighted the urgent need for early diagnosis, preventive measures, and lifestyle modification.
During the awareness session, Endocrinology Consultant Dr. Jay Chordia shared practical insights on understanding blood sugar levels, identifying risk factors, and adopting a healthier lifestyle. He emphasised that regular screening and timely intervention can significantly reduce the risk of serious complications associated with diabetes. According to the International Diabetes Federation, the prevalence of diabetes among adults in India has reached nearly 10.5%, with around 9 crore adults affected. Another recent study indicates that the prevalence may be as high as 19.8% among adults aged 45 years and above, amounting to nearly 5 crore individuals. The increasing figures underline the critical importance of early detection and lifestyle-related measures.
Dr. Chordia stated that diabetes continues to be one of the fastest-growing health challenges in the country, and early identification remains the most effective way to prevent complications. He added that awareness about symptoms, testing, and lifestyle management can significantly help in reducing risks. He advised participants to focus on proper nutrition, regular exercise, and periodic health checkups, stressing that even small and consistent lifestyle changes can make a meaningful difference in diabetes prevention and control.
Reflecting the hospital’s focus on preventive health, Paras Health Udaipur’s Facility Director Dr. Prasoon Kumar said that the institution firmly believes preventive awareness forms the foundation of good health. He mentioned that the goal of this initiative was to encourage people to adopt healthier lifestyles and seek timely consultations. The hospital remains committed to conducting regular community outreach programmes aimed at promoting active health management.
