Jaisalmer,Under the able leadership of Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government continues its focused efforts toward uplifting the underprivileged. The Chief Minister has issued clear directives to ensure that the most marginalized sections of society are connected with government welfare schemes and brought into the mainstream.

District Food and Civil Supplies Officer Ramsingh Meena informed that as per the Rajasthan Food Security Rules, 2023 (Schedule-1), families falling under the following categories are to be excluded from the food security benefits:

Families with any income tax payer.

Families having any member employed in government, semi-government, or autonomous institutions.

Families with an annual income exceeding ₹1 lakh.

Families owning a four-wheeler vehicle (excluding tractors or vehicles used for livelihood).

He stated that the final date for applying under the 'Give-Up' campaign, which began on 1 November 2024, is now set as 31 May 2025. In Jaisalmer district, 4,485 individuals have voluntarily relinquished their eligibility under this campaign. Interested citizens may submit their online applications through the Food Department’s official website.

Following the Chief Minister’s directive, the Food Security Scheme portal was opened on 26 January 2025, through which 20.80 lakh individuals across Rajasthan have been linked to the scheme so far. In Jaisalmer alone, 137 ineligible individuals have been issued notices, and recovery proceedings will be initiated against them.

Additionally, the Food Department’s enforcement officers and inspectors will now conduct surprise inspections at every fair price shop as part of this campaign.
