Google Lays Foundation of AI Hub in India; Airtel and AdaniConneX to Collaborate

Udaipur: Google has laid the foundation stone for its landmark AI Hub in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), marking the company’s largest investment in India to date. The development of this gigawatt-scale ecosystem will be led by Nxtra by Airtel in collaboration with AdaniConneX.

The project aims to strengthen Google’s commitment to India’s economic growth and environmental sustainability by leveraging Nxtra’s state-of-the-art data centers, extensive ultra-low latency fiber network across the country, green power solutions, and next-generation cable landing stations.

Speaking on the occasion, Gopal Vittal, Executive Vice Chairman of Bharti Airtel, said that this strategic partnership with Google and Adani will help accelerate India’s digital ambitions. He noted that as Visakhapatnam emerges as a new global AI hub, the initiative will position India at the forefront of innovation and sustainable growth, benefiting not only the country but the world.

India’s IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that the foundation ceremony reflects the vision of Narendra Modi to establish India as a global leader in technology. He added that the India AI Hub and the three subsea cables set to land in Visakhapatnam will serve as critical infrastructure for the nation’s growth journey.
