Chandigarh University Pioneers Fintech and Banking Education in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chandigarh University is poised to play a pivotal role in transforming education and preparing industry-ready professionals in the fields of fintech and banking in Uttar Pradesh. During the 'India@2030' panel discussion organized by the university’s Faculty of Business and Commerce, prominent industry leaders, academicians, and experts gathered to deliberate on educational reforms, economic advancements, and India's journey toward becoming a $7 trillion economy.

Inaugurating the event, Dr. Ajay Yadav, Registrar of Chandigarh University Uttar Pradesh, highlighted the university's mission to become a global hub of academic excellence with an investment exceeding ₹2,500 crore. “Our vision is to offer international standard education that meets the aspirations of students who otherwise look overseas for quality learning,” he said.

AI to Create 2.8 Million Jobs by 2028
Experts emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) will generate significant employment opportunities in the next five years. According to the India Skills Report 2024, India's AI industry is projected to reach $28.8 billion by the end of 2025. Furthermore, a joint report by ServiceNow and Pearson suggests AI will create 2.8 million new jobs in India by 2028. Uttar Pradesh's AI City Project alone aims to generate 50,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Stanford AI Index 2024 ranks India first globally in AI skill penetration, recording a 263% growth since 2016. The country has also emerged as the third-largest startup ecosystem, with over 1.57 lakh startups creating 1.6 million jobs—positioning India as a global force in innovation and entrepreneurship.

AI in Finance and Commerce
Panelists detailed how AI is revolutionizing financial services—enhancing data analytics, fraud detection, investment advisory, and customer service. AI-powered tools such as chatbots are improving customer experiences, risk management, and credit scoring, making banking more efficient and transparent. AI is also playing a crucial role in combating cyber fraud through real-time transaction monitoring.

Two Sessions, One Vision
The discussion was divided into two sessions. The first, led by Prof. Alka Singh from Chandigarh University, focused on “Education Reforms and Future Economy.” It explored the potential of aligning education with innovation, industry needs, and digital transformation to build an inclusive economy.

The second session, moderated by Prof. Ashutosh Bajpai, explored the roadmap to achieving a $7 trillion economy by 2030. Participants underlined the critical roles of policy, investment, and education in propelling India’s economic trajectory.

Academic-Industry Synergy is Key
Prof. Manuka Khanna, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University and Chief Guest, lauded the university's focus on integrating AI, skill development, and incubation. “Such initiatives will prepare students for real-world challenges and position India as a global talent hub,” she stated.

Ambarish Kumar Srivastava, Senior Consultant at TCS, emphasized the importance of practical, industry-aligned education. “With 60% of India’s population below 35, Chandigarh University UP is creating future-ready professionals in fintech, manufacturing, and defense through its industry collaborations,” he said.

Building a Financially Disciplined Nation
CA Anurag Pandey, Chairman, ICAI Lucknow Branch, underlined the need for financial discipline, tax reforms, and robust governance. He praised the university’s commitment to practical education and AI-focused curriculum, which he said is equipping students with essential global skills.

Through its academic vision, AI integration, and collaborative model, Chandigarh University Uttar Pradesh is contributing to India's economic empowerment and redefining the role of education in nation-building.
