Udaipur: A one-day national seminar on the theme ‘Meera – Philosophy of Devotion’ was conducted with great reverence and scholarly enthusiasm, jointly organized by Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Udaipur and Meera Peeth & Research Institute.
Dr. Yagya Ameta, coordinator of Meera Peeth, stated that the program was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Prof. Colonel Shivsinh Sarangdevot. The Chancellor, Bhawarlal Gurjar, attended as the chief guest, while Prof. Kalyan Singh Shekhawat, honorary director of Meera Research Peeth and senior historian, was the keynote speaker. Mr. Harsh Jain participated as a distinguished guest.
The seminar began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a welcome address by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sarangdevot. In his address, he emphasized Meera’s philosophy of devotion as a symbol of Indian female consciousness, self-respect, and spiritual liberation, stating: “Meera was not merely a poet or devotee, but a symbol of the individual voice challenging the deep-rooted traditions of society.”
On this occasion, Prof. Sarangdevot officially announced the construction of the “Meera & Pannadhay Bhavan” on the university campus, which was met with great enthusiasm from scholars.
The keynote address by Prof. Kalyan Singh Shekhawat, titled ‘Meera’s Biography and the Female Consciousness of Mewar’, offered an inspiring and research-based perspective. Through the events of Meera’s life, he highlighted: “Meera’s life is a confluence of spiritual practice, self-respect, and devotion. She broke societal norms and made devotion a perpetual principle of life.”
Distinguished guest Mr. Harsh Jain described Meera’s path of devotion as an inspiration for social awakening, while Chancellor Bhawarlal Gurjar highlighted Meera’s personality, stating:
“Meera is the light of the Indian spirit, spreading devotion to all. Her life gives us a unique message of female consciousness, self-pride, and spiritual discipline.”The seminar was conducted and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Yagya Ameta, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all guests, scholars, and participants.
The event was attended by several deans, directors, and university officials, including Prof. Jeevan Singh Kharkwal, Dr. Manish Shrimali, Dr. Bharat Singh Devda, Dr. Bharat Sukhwal, Dr. Gunbala Ameta, Dr. Kulshankar Vyas, Dr. Yuvraj Singh Rathore, Dr. Heena Khan, Dr. Neeru Rathore, Dr. Chandresh Chhatlani, Dr. Jai Singh Jodha, Jitendra Singh Chauhan, and Krishnakant Kumawat.
