Dhanvantari, Goddess Lakshmi, and Scriptures Worshipped to Invoke Prosperity, Health, and Wealth

Udaipur: On Dhanteras, the first day of the five-day Deepotsav festival at Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University, a grand ritualistic worship was performed under the guidance of Pandit Parmeshwar Chaubisa. The ceremony was led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, along with Chancellor and Head of the University, Bhawar Lal Gurjar, to invoke blessings from Lord Dhanvantari and Goddess Lakshmi for peace, prosperity, and health in the nation.

Prof. Sarangdevot explained that the worship of Dhanvantari marks the official commencement of the five-day Diwali festivities. Drawing from ancient scriptures, he highlighted that during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) for Amrit, fourteen precious treasures emerged, one of which was Lord Dhanvantari carrying the pot of nectar (Amrit Kalash). He noted that Dhanvantari is considered the originator of Ayurveda, and hence his worship is also observed on Ayurveda Day. Merely remembering or worshipping the texts associated with Lord Dhanvantari is believed to eliminate diseases and safeguard health.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Registrar Dr. Tarun Shrimali, Controller of Examinations Dr. Paras Jain, Dr. Kala Munet, Dr. Chandresh Chhatlani, along with private secretary Krishnakant Kumawat, and staff members Praveen Gurjar, Bhagwati Lal Shrimali, Rajni P., Dr. Yagya Ameta, Murtaza Ali, Pratap Singh Sisodia, Udaybha Singh, Dr. Sapna Shrimali, Dr. Jaysingh Jodha, Kalu Singh, Vikas Dangi, Siddharth, and others, who collectively participated in the ceremonial worship of Goddess Lakshmi to seek blessings for wealth and prosperity.
