Commitment, Conviction and Courage Essential to Launch a Startup: Dr. Anil Mehta

Udaipur: Young technical students can establish their own startups and play a significant role in employment generation by effectively utilizing various schemes, programs, and technical courses offered by the Central and State Governments. Financial assistance, technical consultancy, training, and mentorship are being provided by several government and semi-government agencies to support self-employment initiatives. What is required, however, is that youth take the initiative with the three Cs — Commitment, Conviction, and Courage.

These views were expressed by Dr. Anil Mehta, Principal of Vidya Bhawan Polytechnic, during an Entrepreneurship Awareness Workshop sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India.

Dr. Mehta emphasized that the present era belongs to innovation and technological competence. If young people receive the right training and adopt modern technologies, they can contribute significantly to building an “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India). He added that by leveraging the skill development and startup support ecosystem, every youth has the potential to become a successful entrepreneur.

Highlighting the institution’s initiatives, Dr. Mehta said that the Saraswati Mechatronics Center at Vidya Bhawan provides specialized training in automation, mechatronics, and advanced production technologies. These technologies form the backbone of today’s industrial landscape and strengthen concepts such as manufacturing, robotics, smart production, and Industry 4.0. Youth equipped with such skills can not only secure employment but also establish their own enterprises.

During the workshop, expert speakers Rakesh Pati, Senior Manager at the MSME Technology Centre Bhiwadi, and Dr. Mahendra Singh Yadav provided detailed information about various technical and entrepreneurship programs run by the ministry. They informed participants about several government incentive schemes supporting innovation-based startups and modernization of traditional industries.

The experts specifically discussed schemes such as the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme (ESDP), and Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI). Through these initiatives, youth are provided financial grants, training, technical assistance, and marketing support. Detailed information was also shared about advanced skill courses available at the Bhiwadi Technology Centre.

The program was coordinated by the institution’s ISTE and IAI Chapter conveners, Bhuvan Ameta, Dr. Vikram Singh Kumawat, Jai Sharma, and Abha Jain.
