Narcotics Hindrance in Development": Dr. P.C. Jain

Udaipur, A Drug-Free Awareness Camp was organized in the village of Brahmins in the smart village of Maharana Pratap Agriculture and Technology University, Udaipur. The chief guest, Dr. P.C. Jain, former head of the department at the Government Maharana Bhupal Hospital, Udaipur, narrated true stories of addiction and provided solutions to overcome them. Participants joined in singing anti-drug songs, emphasizing the need to stay away from substances like marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, and opium, along with briefings on their harmful effects.

Dr. Jain also announced the celebration of International Water Day on March 22, 2024, urging farmers to pledge to keep local water sources clean and safe. Various charts and posters were used to raise awareness among farmers and women about the hazards of alcohol, tobacco, smoking, and chewing tobacco. Dr. R.S. Rathore, coordinator of the Smart Village, highlighted a nutrition training program for 30 trainees aimed at combating malnutrition through the use of coarse grain bakery products. He also discussed advanced techniques to boost rice production.

The trainees visited the Solar Tree and the newly constructed community hall at Government Higher Secondary School in Madar. Dr. Gayatri Tiwari, Professor of Community and Behavioral Sciences, emphasized that addiction is a gateway to destruction, affecting all aspects of life. She elaborated on the financial repercussions of tobacco addiction on families.

In this awareness camp, 62 participants from Madar and Brahmin's Hunnar took part, including women's self-help groups and Madar's dialogue. Leading activists, village councils, ward members, and progressive farmers pledged to keep the village clean and drug-free.
