###Pioneer of Urban Geography Dr. Rajmal Lodha Passes Away

Udaipur: Eminent geographer and pioneer of urban geographical studies in Rajasthan, Dr. Rajmal Lodha, former Head of the Department of Geography at Mohanlal Sukhadia University, passed away on Sunday morning in Udaipur.

Dr. Lodha belonged to a distinguished generation of geographers alongside noted academicians such as Prof. Bhattacharya, Prof. N.L. Gupta, Prof. Dinesh Bhardwaj, Prof. R.N. Vyas, and Prof. R.S. Rathore. Through his teaching, research, and dedicated service, he significantly elevated the stature of the Geography Department at the university.

Hailing from Bhadesar village in Chittorgarh district, Dr. Lodha carved a remarkable academic journey in higher education. He authored more than 26 books and successfully completed 13 research projects. His doctoral research on urbanization in Bhilwara established him as a leading figure in the geographical study of urbanization in Rajasthan.

Even in his later years, his academic engagement remained strong. A few years ago, he published his autobiography “Jhopdi Se Bangle Tak”, which was formally released by former Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.L. Mehta of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology at a grand ceremony

Dr. Lodha mentored numerous research scholars who went on to become professors across various universities, continuing his academic legacy. Among those who paid heartfelt tributes were his students and eminent academicians including Prof. Deepak Maheshwari, Prof. L.R. Patel, Dr. Chandradev Ola, noted geographer Prof. P.R. Vyas, B.L. Janwa, and Prof. Hemendra Chandalia.

His passing marks the end of an era in the field of geography, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge, mentorship, and inspiration.
