###Mewar in Parliament: Rajasthan Has 639 PM Shri Schools; Government Implementing Multiple Measures to Improve Quality

Udaipur. There are 639 PM Shri Schools operating in Rajasthan and more than 13,000 such schools across the country, where several innovative initiatives have been introduced to implement the National Education Policy (NEP). Multiple measures are being taken to enhance quality. In the Udaipur Lok Sabha constituency—including Udaipur, Dungarpur, Salumbar, and Pratapgarh districts—58 PM Shri Schools are functional, and over ₹6 crore has already been spent in the financial year 2025–26.

Responding to a question raised by MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat in Parliament regarding PM Shri Schools, Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary provided detailed information. He stated that there are 22 PM Shri Schools in Udaipur, 8 in Salumbar, 14 in Dungarpur, and 14 in Pratapgarh.

MP Dr. Rawat had sought details on the upgradation and capacity-building initiatives under the PM Shri School scheme as part of NEP 2020, the approved funds, the number of beneficiary schools, the number of selected schools in Rajasthan, the monitoring mechanisms to ensure timely achievement of quality benchmarks, and information on selected schools and sanctioned funds in Udaipur, Salumbar, Dungarpur, and Pratapgarh districts.

The Union Minister explained that PM Shri Schools are being equipped with:

Computer labs

ICT labs

Smart classrooms

Well-furnished libraries

Internet facilities

Vocational skill education

Guidance and career counseling

Fully equipped integrated science laboratories
— including physics, chemistry, and biology labs

Sports grounds with facilities

School Innovation Councils

Youth and eco clubs for Mission LiFE

“BALA” features and Jadui Pitara for primary students

Ten bag-free days for students

Child-tracking software for monitoring attendance

Fully functional handwashing facilities and toilets

Green school initiatives

He added that NEP 2020 includes phased timelines and guidelines for implementation, with full execution envisioned between the 2030–40 decade, after which a comprehensive review will be carried out.

Under the PM Shri scheme, a total of 13,076 schools have been selected across 33 States and Union Territories. Strict monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to ensure timely compliance with quality standards in PM Shri Schools.
