Udaipur: On the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata and the great ruler of Malwa, Ahilyabai Holkar, a grand theatrical production titled “Karmayogini Mata Ahilya” was staged by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The performance took place at 6:00 PM on Sunday at the CCRT Regional Centre, Hawala Khurd, Badgaon, Udaipur, Rajasthan, in a dignified and celebratory atmosphere.
Organized on the culturally rich soil of Mewar in Rajasthan, the historic presentation vividly portrayed the inspiring life, sacrifice, service, good governance, and welfare-oriented vision of Ahilyabai Holkar through a powerful theatrical expression. The grand play depicted her journey from childhood through her entire reign, leaving the audience deeply moved and reflective.
The production sensitively highlighted her ideals of social harmony, reconstruction of religious and cultural sites, and women’s empowerment. A seamless blend of classical theatre, folk dance, emotive dialogues, live music, and impressive stage design captivated the audience throughout the performance.
On this prestigious occasion, S. S. Sarangdevot, Vice-Chancellor of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, attended as the Chief Guest. Distinguished guests included B. R. Bhati (Retired ADM, Rajasthan Administrative Service), Prof. Mohan Prakash Sharma, Dr. Prem Bhandari, Om Prakash Sharma, and Dinesh Kothari.
The event was also graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Vinod Narayan Indurkar, Chairman of CCRT, New Delhi. The grand theatrical production, prepared under his visionary leadership and guidance, received widespread appreciation. Eminent personalities from various fields, scholars, and a large number of art enthusiasts were also present.
The cast featured 41 artists who brought the stage to life with powerful performances, including Sara Sharma as Ahilyabai Holkar, Priyanka Verma as young Ahilyabai, Kanak Verma as Gautam Bai Holkar, Aditya Verma as Male Rao Holkar, Siddharth as Malhar Rao Holkar, and Piyush Gambhir as Khanderao Holkar.
The event was coordinated under the supervision of CCRT Deputy Director and Program Coordinator Ashutosh, playwright and Regional Officer Dr. Juleesha Siddharth, Regional Officer Abhik Sarkar, Devaram Meghwal, Anuj Bajpai, and Chandramauli. Their coordinated efforts ensured that the program in Udaipur was well-organized, impactful, and memorable.
