Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Devnani Attends Foundation Day of Vidya Bhavan Polytechnic Alumni Association

Udaipur: Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani said that the nation needs engineers who possess not only technical excellence but also ethics, patriotism, discipline, honesty, dedication, and a spirit of environmental service. He praised Vidya Bhavan Polytechnic for consistently nurturing such engineers since 1956.

Devnani expressed these views while addressing the 60th Foundation Day celebration of the Polytechnic’s Alumni Association. Having served the institution for nearly 30 years as a teacher and principal, Devnani honored engineering graduates who had completed their studies 25 and 50 years ago—many of whom had once been his students. The reunion of teacher and disciples created an emotional atmosphere during the event.

At the ceremony, Devnani once again appeared in the role of an engineering professor. He emphasized the importance of punctuality and discipline and urged engineers to build the future of India on the foundation of the nation’s rich scientific and technological heritage. He called upon them to uphold human values while using modern technologies, innovations, and discoveries to take the nation to greater heights.

He said the world today needs technocrats who protect nature and conserve water, who are confident, morally grounded, and committed to serving family, society, the nation, and humanity with enthusiasm and dedication.

Addressing current students of the Polytechnic, Devnani remarked that the future will not belong merely to degree holders, but to individuals who possess innovation, clarity in decision-making, and sensitivity toward the nation. “Machines will perform many tasks in the future, but character, compassion, and leadership come from family and society,” he said.

He encouraged youth not to limit themselves to jobs alone, but to become self-reliant and generate employment opportunities for others. According to him, India requires an awakened youth force that is technologically advanced, scientifically minded, and Indian at heart. He envisioned an India that contributes not only products to the world but also values and human consciousness.

Referring to the global discussion around Artificial Intelligence (AI), Devnani said that India had contemplated the limitless possibilities of human intelligence thousands of years ago. Speaking on climate change, he noted that while the world now talks about sustainable development, India had long ago presented the philosophy of harmony between nature and humanity. He added that the world, struggling with mental stress, is turning toward India’s traditions of yoga, meditation, and spirituality for solutions. “India’s strength lies not only in giving technology to the world but also in showing the way of life,” he said.

Special guest Tarachand Jain described the Polytechnic as one of the leading educational institutions of the region.

Presiding over the event, Jitendra Kumar Tayalia, President of Vidya Bhavan Society, remembered founder Mohan Singh Mehta, first principal C. S. L. Agrawal, and former teacher B. L. Mantri while describing the institution as one of India’s finest technical institutes.

Polytechnic Principal Anil Mehta highlighted the institution’s achievements and outlined its innovations in skill development, research, and creating industry-oriented technical manpower.

During the ceremony, Devnani administered the oath to the newly elected executive committee members, including President Jaiprakash Shrimali, Vice President Ashok Jain, General Secretary Jai Sharma, Treasurer Girish Vaishnav, Secretary Gopesh Sharma, Information and Contact Secretary Mahendra Samdani, and executive members Basant Dak, Yashwant Trivedi, Bhuvan Ameta, Hemant Menaria, Darshana Sharma, Manisha Sharma, and Radha Krishna Menaria.

Students securing first, second, and third positions in diploma examinations were honored, along with “Best Girl” Sumedha and “Best Boy” Rakshit.

The event was attended by educationists and distinguished citizens including Pushpa Sharma, Anil Kothari, Gopal Bamb, Revati Raman Shrimali, R. K. Garg, Jaykant Dave, and Vinod Kothari, along with several engineers and dignitaries.
