Attach a Medical Certificate with Your Will to Avoid Future Family Disputes: ADJ Kuldeep Sharma

Udaipur: Additional District and Sessions Judge and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Udaipur, Kuldeep Sharma said that every individual should prepare a will to ensure the proper distribution of the property earned through a lifetime of hard work. He also advised that a medical certificate should be attached to the will to prevent any future family disputes.

He was addressing a special awareness lecture on “Senior Citizen Rights and Will” organized by the Rotary Club of Udaipur at Rotary Bajaj Bhawan on Rani Road. During the program, detailed information was provided regarding the rights and protection of senior citizens, as well as legal aspects related to wills.

ADJ Sharma stated that registration of a will is not mandatory, but the presence of two witnesses is extremely important. He clarified that a will becomes effective only after the death of the person who has made it. He emphasized that a properly drafted will plays a vital role in preventing future family disputes and maintaining transparency and harmony within the family.

Providing information about the Senior Citizens Protection Act, he said that children are legally responsible for the maintenance and care of their parents, regardless of whether a will has been written or not. According to the new legal provisions, children are required to provide monthly financial support to their parents. He also stressed the importance of appointing nominees while opening bank accounts and lockers to avoid property-related disputes after death.

During the event, Rotarians and citizens present asked several legal questions, which were answered by ADJ Sharma through simple and practical examples.

At the beginning of the program, Club President Deepak Mehta delivered the welcome address and said that due to changing social conditions and the growing trend of nuclear families, the need for legal protection and awareness among senior citizens has increased more than ever before.

Earlier, Dr. Ajay Murdia welcomed ADJ Sharma, while Narendra Maru honored former District Governor Nirmal Singhvi with a ceremonial stole. Rajendra Chauhan presented the invocation prayer. Nirmal Singhvi also presented a memento to Sharma. At the end, Secretary Vineet Damani delivered the vote of thanks.

The lecture was described by all members as highly informative and useful. A large number of Rotary members and distinguished citizens were present at the event.
