Expenditure Observer Ravi Ranjan Reviews MCMC Cell at EC Office

Udaipur : In order to ensure the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 are conducted impartially and transparently, Ravi Ranjan Kumar, appointed as Expenditure Observer by the Election Commission of India, visited the Information Center on Wednesday. There, he inspected the Media Certification and Monitoring Cell (MCMC) and the Paid News Cell.

The Expenditure Observer gathered information about the effective monitoring of election propaganda on print and electronic media by personnel in the cell. He also discussed the reports received daily from the Expenditure Cell.

During his visit, he also reviewed the Media Cell's integrated register. The Assistant Public Relations Officer, Vinay Sompura, provided him with information about the functioning of various branches of the cell, including electronic media monitoring, radio and FM channel monitoring, social media monitoring, and print media cell.

Ravi Ranjan instructed special monitoring of the Paid News and immediate reporting to the concerned authorities. On this occasion, all the staff of the cell, including APRO Jayesh Pandya, were present.

Inspection of Other Cells:

Krishnapal Singh Chauhan, the Expenditure Monitoring Cell in-charge, informed that Ravi Ranjan Kumar also reviewed complaints received through the C-Vigil portal and the District Control Room. He gave directions for prompt resolution of complaints and coordination with various flying squads and enforcement agencies to ensure effective action in accordance with the rules.

He also inspected the Assistant Expenditure Observer and Election Expenditure Monitoring Cell, directing them to obtain necessary information on time, maintain accounts and records properly, and keep seizure-related information up to date. During this, instructions were given to all functioning personnel in the cells to work with vigilance and coordination and to avoid any lapses.
