Udaipur – Under the “Panch Gaurav Yojana” initiated by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the district administration has introduced an innovative initiative to familiarize citizens with the importance of Panch Gaurav and promote its preservation and development. Two-day Panch Gaurav fairs and exhibitions have been organized at the Panchayat Samiti level across the district. The exhibition was inaugurated on Wednesday.
Organized under the direction of Panch Gaurav Program Implementation Chairman and District Collector Namit Mehta, the fair witnessed participation from a large number of citizens who gathered information about the district’s identified “Panch Gaurav” elements. The fairs and exhibitions are being held at 14 Panchayat Samiti headquarters in the district.
The concept centers around five district-specific pride elements:
One District One Product – Marble and Granite
One District One Produce – Custard Apple
One District One Plant Species – Mahua
One District One Sport – Swimming
One District One Tourist Destination – Fateh Sagar Lake and Lake Pichola
Exhibitions and activities are being organized highlighting the overall development and conservation of these five focus areas. Detailed information about each selected Panch Gaurav has been displayed through departmental stalls, where visitors are being provided comprehensive insights. The event also features exhibitions and sales counters by local artisans, self-help groups, women’s groups, and farmers showcasing their products.
A large number of schoolchildren, women, youth, and general citizens attended the block-level fairs and exhibitions. They visited the stalls to gain detailed knowledge about the district’s Panch Gaurav and understand their significance. The primary objective of the event is to raise awareness among citizens and foster a supportive environment for the conservation and promotion of these district pride elements.
Under the Panch Gaurav program, Panch Gaurav Literacy Clubs formed in schools recently organized slogan-writing, quiz, and poster competitions. The winning posters created by students were also displayed at the block-level fairs, providing young talents with an opportunity to showcase their creativity.
District Collector Namit Mehta directed Panchayat Samiti-level officers to monitor the arrangements of the fairs. Accordingly, senior officials visited various Panchayat Samitis to inspect the exhibitions and oversee management arrangements, ensuring smooth organization of the events across the district.
