Rajasthan Day Week Begins with Cleanliness Pledge

Udaipur: On the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan Day Week is being celebrated across the state from March 14 to March 19. As part of the celebrations, a series of programs began on Saturday with a cleanliness pledge across the city and district.

A district-level program was organized at Sukhadia Circle Park and the nearby Sukhadia Statue Park under the joint aegis of the District Administration and the Municipal Corporation. During the event, public representatives, officials, and employees participated in shramdaan (voluntary labor) to promote the message of cleanliness.

The program was held Saturday morning at the Chowpati shed near Sukhadia Circle. The event was attended by City MLA Tarachand Jain, District Collector Namit Mehta, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, ADM (Administration) Deependra Singh Rathore, ADM (City) Jitendra Ojha, and social worker Gajpal Singh as distinguished guests.

At the beginning of the program, Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Sharma shared information about the Cleanliness Pledge Week. MLA Tarachand Jain said that Rajasthan Day Week is not just a celebration but also an opportunity to strengthen the state’s proud traditions and the commitment to responsible citizenship. He emphasized that public participation in cleanliness drives is essential to make the city clean, beautiful, and well-organized.

District Collector Namit Mehta stated that cleanliness is not a one-day campaign but a continuous public movement. He appealed to citizens to actively contribute to keeping their homes, neighborhoods, and public places clean so that Udaipur can be recognized as a clean and beautiful city. On the occasion, the MLA and officials also administered a cleanliness pledge.

Cleanliness Drive at the Circle and Park
After the formal program, all public representatives, officials, employees, and citizens carried out a cleanliness drive at Sukhadia Circle and the nearby Statue Park through shramdaan. The District Collector personally took up a broom to clean the area and collected garbage in baskets. He also gathered scattered polythene and plastic waste from the park and disposed of it in garbage bins.

During the drive, both ADMs, Municipal Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner Dinesh Mandowara, Joint Director of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department Girish Bhatnagar, General Manager of District Industries Centre Shailendra Sharma, Deputy Director of Women Empowerment Sanjay Joshi, Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Department K.C. Meena, along with officials from various departments and Municipal Corporation staff, also participated in the shramdaan.
