On the occasion of Rajasthan Foundation Day, the Rajasthan State Archives, Udaipur, organized an exhibition and seminar at the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi Library Building.
The exhibition focused on Mewar and its historical records, showcasing items such as Sajjan Kirti Sudhakar, Mewar Gazette, livestock and agriculture records, official gazettes from the Mewar political era, copper plate inscriptions, archival documents, newspapers, and maps. The event highlighted the importance of studying history in the present day.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Tara Chand Jain, MLA of Udaipur City, who emphasized that understanding and learning from rich historical records is essential, as they inform us about our glorious past. He suggested that such archives should be displayed on various occasions so that the public can gain knowledge about history.
Presiding over the event, Dr. Shrikrishna Jugnu noted that reading inscriptions, understanding the language, culture, cuisine, and traditions of the Mewar State era is an integral part of our culture, which encourages us to study history. He stressed that even today, we should read and comprehend the pages of history written in ancient times.
Dr. Basant Singh Solanki informed that the three-day exhibition, from 16th to 19th March 2026, will be highly useful for residents of Udaipur, authors, historians, and students. At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Solanki expressed his gratitude to all participants. The event was hosted by Rajat Kahaniwala.
The seminar saw the participation of distinguished guests including Hemant Joshi, Dr. Kundan Mali, Sunil Tank, renowned artisan Sunil Laddha, Sarita Jain, Chirag Joshi, Sohan Lal, Mohan Lal, among others.
