At PM Shri School, Kaya, a meaningful initiative was undertaken as part of a de-addiction campaign, where senior physician Dr. P.C. Jain addressed students, teachers, and parents. He vividly explained the harmful effects of tobacco and alcohol on families, comparing tobacco to termites that slowly destroy from within. Speaking in the Mewari language, he demonstrated how habitual consumption of gutka, tobacco, and supari can be identified, such as reduced mouth opening among users.
Dr. Jain shared real-life examples from a school near Kumbhalgarh, where children admitted that they had learned tobacco use from their parents. He asked students whether they could study properly in an environment where family members consume alcohol, to which all responded negatively. He also suggested simple home remedies to help quit addiction.
As part of the awareness program, two students performed a dance titled “Mat Piyo Sa Tambakudi”, spreading a strong message against tobacco use.
A unique and inspiring innovation was introduced during the event: parents who had come for their children’s admission were invited to take a voluntary pledge to quit addiction. They were encouraged to come on stage, take an oath in the name of their children, and sign a pledge form. Initially, two parents stepped forward and vowed to quit addiction. Inspired by them, a third parent joined with his child and took the same pledge in the presence of Dr. P.C. Jain and Principal Krishnakant Sharma. This initiative proved to be highly motivating.
Dr. Jain then administered a collective oath of de-addiction to all students, teachers, and parents present.
The program was conducted by Ambika Prasad Parik. Dr. Jain was formally introduced by Principal Krishnakant Sharma, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Vice Principal Chandrashekhar. The event was attended by Ghanshyam Khatik, Jayant Chaubisa, Lokesh Ji, and others. The program was also organized under the “Sanskar Activities” of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Subhash branch.
