District Collector Conducts Detailed Inspection of Pediatric Hospital

Udaipur: District Collector Gaurav Agrawal conducted a detailed inspection of the Pediatric Department at Maharana Bhupal Hospital on Thursday morning to further strengthen the quality of healthcare services and infrastructure. Senior officials, including Dr. Rahul Jain, Principal and Controller of R.N.T. Medical College, Hospital Superintendent Dr. R. L. Suman, and Head of Pediatrics Dr. Vivek Arora, were present during the inspection.

Praise for Cleanliness
At the outset, the Collector expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness of the hospital premises. He particularly noted the absence of stains from paan or gutkha even in corners and stairways. Superintendent Dr. Suman explained that strict checking at the entrance, awareness among attendants, and the availability of dustbins throughout the premises have contributed to maintaining cleanliness.

Visit to Sickle Cell Excellence Centre
The Collector inspected the OPD, vaccination room, and adolescent centre. He was informed that this hospital houses the country’s second Sickle Cell Excellence Centre. During the visit, he also signed a banner as part of a public participation signature campaign. He reviewed arrangements for the regular treatment of over 300 registered patients in the hemophilia and thalassemia wards.

Fight Against Malnutrition and Social Responsibility
As a major regional centre, the hospital treats severely malnourished children. The Collector reviewed treatment facilities and the daily allowances provided to parents. He also inspected the ICU, PICU, and the nutrition ward kitchen to assess food quality.

Monthly Review Meetings and Safety Measures
Considering future needs, the Collector discussed proposals for hospital expansion. He directed that monthly review meetings be held at the District Collector’s office to accelerate the work of construction agencies associated with R.N.T. Medical College. He also instructed that the police department be included in these meetings to address issues related to traffic, parking, and the safety of patients, students, and medical staff. Dr. Jain was directed to prepare a detailed agenda for these meetings to ensure timely resolution of issues.

Focus on Public Awareness
Dr. Vivek Arora informed that in cases where patients’ mothers are no longer covered under scheme policies, the hospital bears the expenses. The Collector emphasized the need for awareness campaigns in the field so that eligible beneficiaries can avail timely benefits, reducing unnecessary financial burden on the hospital.

Deputy Superintendent Dr. Sanjeev Tank, Senior Professor Dr. Asif, the Nursing Superintendent, and other senior medical staff were also present during the inspection.
