Udaipur: The West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC), Udaipur, concluded its seven-day “Waste to Wealth” (papier-mâché) workshop on Tuesday as part of the Swachhta Pakhwada campaign. An exhibition showcasing the artworks created during the workshop was also organized.
Dr. Ashwin M. Dalvi, Director of the West Zone Cultural Centre, stated that the workshop was held from April 16 to 30 under the Swachhta Pakhwada initiative, with the seven-day papier-mâché training concluding on Tuesday. He visited the exhibition and appreciated the creative artworks made by participants using waste materials.
He noted that participants from diverse fields took part in the workshop and encouraged them to integrate this art form into their respective disciplines. The Centre has sown the seed through this initiative, and it is now the responsibility of the participants to nurture it into a flourishing practice.
Workshop expert Ramdev Meena explained the finer aspects of papier-mâché, including soaking paper, preparing pulp using multani mitti (Fuller’s earth), and crafting various items. On this occasion, participants also shared their experiences and expressed gratitude to the Centre for organizing the workshop.
Certificates were distributed to the expert, assistants, and participants. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Director (Finance & Accounts), Durgesh Chandwani.
