Udaipur: Rajasthan’s Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government is working rapidly to make Rajasthan water self-reliant. Several major water projects are currently underway across the state.
Addressing a press conference during his visit to Udaipur on Monday, the minister said that more than ₹900 crore has been approved for water projects in the Udaipur division over the last three state budgets, and work on these projects is in progress.
He emphasized that the government’s objective is to ensure drinking water for every individual and irrigation water for every farm. In the 2026–27 budget, ₹275 crore has been sanctioned for ongoing water projects in the region. He also highlighted that the long-awaited Dewas Phase III and IV projects in Udaipur are progressing steadily, and officials have been instructed to complete them by December 2027.
The Bagolia feeder project, with an estimated cost of around ₹200 crore, is also advancing quickly. Once completed, it will provide drinking water and irrigation facilities to approximately 3,700 hectares of land in the Mavli area. Similarly, in Rajsamand district, work on the Khari feeder project, costing ₹131 crore, is underway.
The minister also discussed other ongoing projects in the state, including the Ramjal Setu project, which is progressing at a fast pace. Upon completion, it is expected to expand drinking water and irrigation facilities to nearly half of Rajasthan’s districts.
Minister Rawat further informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the ambitious Jakham–Jaisamand–Badgaon–Matrikundiya water project in southern Rajasthan has been prepared and sent to the Central Water Commission for approval. The project, estimated at around ₹10,000 crore, is expected to significantly address drinking water and irrigation challenges in southern Rajasthan and ensure better utilization of surplus water resources once implemented.
During the press conference, Tarachand Jain, along with social workers Gajpal Singh and Pushkar Dangi, and departmental officials, were also present.
