###Ambedkar Jayanti Celebrated with Student Seminar

Udaipur, The 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, was commemorated with great respect and enthusiasm at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology. A student seminar was organised under the aegis of the Directorate of Student Welfare at the IPM Auditorium of the Department of Entomology, Rajasthan College of Agriculture.

The program commenced with floral tributes offered to Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait by guests, faculty members, and students. Dr. Manoj Kumar Mahla, Dean of Rajasthan College of Agriculture and Student Welfare Officer, formally welcomed the dignitaries by presenting traditional uparna and bouquets. In his address, he highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s immense contributions to the nation and called upon students to uphold the responsibility of safeguarding the country’s independence and values.

Chief Guest Dr. Uma Shankar Sharma elaborated on Dr. Ambedkar’s unparalleled role in the framing of the Constitution and emphasised the importance of education, particularly for women. He described education as a powerful tool for empowerment, comparing it to a temple, sword, and shield of progress. Quoting Dr. Ambedkar, “Education is the milk of a lioness; whoever drinks it will roar,” he underlined that knowledge is the true strength that enables individuals to move forward with confidence.

Special Guest Dr. B. R. Bhati, former administrative officer, spoke about Dr. Ambedkar’s extraordinary personality and achievements, noting his vast academic accomplishments and command over multiple languages. He described Dr. Ambedkar’s life as a journey of struggle and substance, urging students to embrace education as a fundamental right and to lead their lives in accordance with constitutional values.

During the seminar, students actively participated by expressing their thoughts on Dr. Ambedkar’s life and contributions. They presented poems and reflections highlighting his dedication to social justice, equality, and education. Their presentations reflected deep respect and awareness, showcasing a sense of responsibility among the younger generation.

On this occasion, Dr. S. S. Lakhawat, Regional Director (Research) and Assistant Student Welfare Officer, administered the Preamble of the Constitution and led all attendees in a pledge to uphold its principles. He also delivered the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the program.

Approximately 250 students, along with heads of departments, faculty members, and staff, were present. The program was conducted by Dr. Shalini Pilania, Assistant Professor, Department of Horticulture.
