Defying Death: PMCH Doctors Save Man After Severe Chest Injury from Electric Saw

Udaipur: In a dramatic life-saving case, doctors at Pacific Medical College and Hospital successfully rescued a 56-year-old man who suffered critical injuries when an electric saw blade tore through his chest and arm.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon while the man was cutting wood. Due to a sudden technical malfunction, the high-speed blade detached and struck him, causing deep cuts to his left arm and chest. He collapsed on the spot as heavy bleeding began.

Family members rushed him to the emergency ward of the hospital, where his condition was extremely critical. He had lost a significant amount of blood, and there were serious concerns about damage to internal organs.

Recognizing the urgency, cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon Dr. Anuj Mehta immediately mobilized the surgical team. The injury had severely damaged not only the skin but also muscles and blood vessels.

A complex surgery lasting nearly four hours was performed. The medical team successfully controlled the bleeding and carefully repaired the damaged chest and arm vessels. The operation involved a coordinated effort by the anesthesia team led by Dr. Sameer Goyal along with Dr. Rakshit, Kuldeep, Lalit, Sanjay, and Parmeshwar.

Dr. Mehta stated that the patient’s condition was extremely critical, with rapidly falling blood pressure due to heavy blood loss. “We had very little time to think and a lot to act on. Any delay could have been fatal,” he said.

Chairman Rahul Agrawal and Executive Director Aman Agrawal highlighted that every critical patient represents a family’s hope, and timely decisions by the medical team are crucial. They emphasized that the hospital combines advanced technology with a highly skilled and compassionate team capable of handling even the most challenging cases.

Following the successful surgery, the patient was shifted to the general ward. Doctors confirmed that he is now out of danger and recovering rapidly. Remarkably, he was discharged within four days in stable condition.
