Sriganganagar – A meeting of the District Water & Sanitation Mission was held on Wednesday in the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Manju. The meeting focused on reviewing canal closure arrangements and drinking water supply during the upcoming summer season. Along with reviewing these arrangements, the Collector issued instructions to ensure the supply of safe drinking water to the public, maintain quality in Jal Jeevan Mission works, and complete pending tasks.
The District Collector directed officials of the Water Resources Department and Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department regarding canal closure and summer drinking water arrangements. He emphasized that PHE officials must ensure full storage arrangements before canal closure. He further instructed that pending works under the Jal Jeevan Mission should be completed promptly and that certifications for “Har Ghar Jal” (water for every household) should be uploaded on the IMIS portal. Certificates pending from certain Gram Panchayats must be obtained, and drinking water connections should also be provided to underserved schools and Anganwadi centers.
Superintending Engineer of the PHE Department, Sh. Vijay Kumar Sharma, presented a detailed report on drinking water supply in Sriganganagar district. According to the report, 702 water supply schemes have been approved for 2,541 villages. Technical approvals for all these schemes have been completed, and tenders have been invited. Out of these, work orders for 698 schemes covering 2,515 villages have been issued, 326 schemes are in progress, and 372 schemes have been completed. Details regarding Har Ghar Jal certification were also presented.
Additional District Collector (Administration) Sh. Subhash Kumar instructed that any complaints regarding contaminated drinking water must be addressed immediately by departmental officials. He further directed all Assistant Engineers and Superintending Engineers to ensure adequate and safe drinking water supply to the public and to conduct periodic water quality testing.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer (Monitoring) Sh. Mohanlal Aroda, Superintending Engineers Sh. Prashant Khairwa, Sh. Rakesh Bishnoi, Sh. Parag Swami, along with departmental Assistant Engineers and members of the District Water & Sanitation Mission.
