Dispute Over Solid Waste Management Plant: Kisan Sangharsh Committee Formed in Narsinghpura Barani

Sri Ganganagar: Opposition has intensified against the district administration’s efforts to establish a Solid Waste Management Plant in Narsinghpura Barani village, allegedly through force and rigid approach. To strengthen the protest and continue the struggle at all levels, a meeting was held at Maharshi Gautam Dham Gaushala in Narsinghpura Barani. Villagers from nearby areas also participated in the meeting.

Movement leaders Mahendra Koth and Macy Chaudhary, who are spearheading the protest against the proposed plant, said that several important suggestions were given during the meeting. After detailed discussions, a 20-member “Jan Sangharsh Committee” (People’s Struggle Committee) was unanimously formed.

The committee includes, among others, Narsinghpura Sarpanch Rakesh Gora, LNP Canal Chairman Gautam Manjhu, Director Madan Soni, former Sarpanch representative Anil Manjhu, former Sarpanch Satpal Manjhu, former Sarpanch representative Daultpura Nain, Gaushala Management Committee General Secretary Rajkumar Mittal, Chandrasinh Sabuki Mod, Atmaram Sihag (Chak 34 NLP), former Sarpanch Omprakash Sharma, Ranveer Poonia, former director candidate Rakesh Jiani, Rakesh Godara, Yogesh Nath Ganeshgarh, Manjhuvas Sarpanch Hansraj Bamania, Raju Beniwal Manjhuvas, and Dr. Roopram Mahia, among others.

Speakers strongly condemned the alleged forceful action by the district administration on Thursday. All members unanimously resolved that the solid waste management plant will not be allowed to be established in Narsinghpura Barani under any circumstances. They also decided to oppose the project at every level and pursue strong legal arguments in the High Court.

During the meeting, it was pointed out that the 13-bigha land identified by the administration for the plant does not have any officially approved access road. It was alleged that the administration is forcibly using farmers’ agricultural fields for access, causing damage to crops and creating distress among farmers.

A special moment during the meeting was the felicitation of farmer Madan Mahia, who showed courage during the protest. He had reportedly lay down in front of a JCB machine brought by the administration during the action the previous day.
