The Rajasthan Tribal Assembly in Udaipur celebrated "World Tribal Day" with great enthusiasm. The ceremony began with garlanding and offering floral tributes to the images of revered tribal leaders, including Lord Birsa Munda, Rana Punja, and martyr Veerangana Kali Bai. Various speakers at the event addressed the community's social, educational, and reservation-related issues.
The Assembly's Secretary and former CMHO, Dr. Dinesh Kharadi, provided detailed information about World Tribal Day and highlighted several social issues, offering potential solutions. Advocate Lokesh Gamar discussed grassroots issues within the community and emphasized the responsibility of the intellectual class in securing employment for local youth. He also engaged in discussions on reservation matters.
Executive member and Statistics Officer, Shri Banwari Lal Bumbria, spoke extensively about the Supreme Court's recent decision on caste classification within the SC/ST categories, explaining its potential negative impacts on the youth. He also raised awareness about the dangers posed by the Meena-Meena controversy in the TSP region. Education Officer Bhim Raj Meena elaborated on the ongoing reservation issues for the tribal community in the scheduled areas, explaining how the TSP cadre's 50% open recruitment policy is cheating the youth and depriving them of their rights.
Vice President Dr. Mahendra Parmar stressed the need to raise awareness about healthcare in the tribal community, pointing out the persistence of superstitions among the people. In his presidential speech, the Assembly President, Someshwar Meena, expressed the need for discussion on the court's caste classification laws related to reservations. He also mentioned that, although the event was modest due to the venue, the large turnout was encouraging, and they plan to celebrate the day on a grander scale in the future.
Other speakers, including Mrs. Rajkumari Meena, emphasized the importance of making the tribal community's programs more grandiose and highlighted the need to address social evils within the community. Advocate Satish Meena discussed the importance of alerting the police system to prevent crimes in rural areas and advised people to stay vigilant. Additional speakers, including Ramesh Asoda, Administrative Officer Shri Kalu Ram Tabiyad, Praveen Charpota, Dr. Lal Shankar Damor, and Sugna Damor, shared their thoughts on various social aspects.
On this occasion, women sang tribal songs, and children performed traditional tribal dances. Senior Vice President Shri Rakesh Hirat expressed gratitude to the attendees and led a two-minute silence in tribute to the late Salumber MLA, Amrit Lal Meena, who passed away recently. The event was conducted by General Secretary C. L. Parmar.
