Three-Day Storytelling Festival from tomorrow

The three-day storytelling festival organized by Udaipur Tales, an initiative by My Anchor Foundation, will commence on January 10 at Park Exotica Resort, opposite Darpan Auditorium on Shilpgram Road.

Co-founder of the foundation, Ms. Sushmita Singha, stated that story enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience a diverse range of stories from across the globe. These stories will include both real and fictional tales, providing a chance to delve into an imaginative world.

Co-founder Mr. Salil Bhandari shared that this festival is not just a platform for oral storytelling but a cultural initiative to establish Udaipur as the storytelling capital of India.

Ms. Singha further mentioned that the festival will kick off on January 10 at 10 a.m. with renowned theater artist and storyteller Vilas Janve presenting “Chetak’s Story” for children. This will be followed by Shona Malhotra’s presentation of the story Unlucky Men, as well as storytelling sessions by Nisha Sinha (The Mischief Maker’s Attire) and Sukhmani Kohli.

At 3 p.m., the "Jamghat" program will begin, featuring a mesmerizing performance by the Naya Savera Band and a storytelling competition. Participants will create a world of imagination with unknown partners and untold tales. Winners of storytelling competitions previously held in schools will also be awarded, followed by a program of folk music.

The evening session, starting at 5:30 p.m., will include the "Kahaniganj" event, where Debjani will present the untold story of Surpanakha. Ajay Kumar will deliver a musical program titled Bada Bhand, while Ahmed Faraz will present the story Believe It or Not, It’s a Mystery. The program will conclude with a soulful qawwali performance by the Qutubi Brothers.
