New Delhi. Ball Corporation, a global leader in sustainable aluminium packaging, has announced a significant strategic investment in India. This move reinforces the company’s commitment to strengthening its supply chain and meeting rising customer demand in one of Asia’s fastest-growing consumer markets. After investing USD 55 million in its Taloja can manufacturing plant near Mumbai in 2024, the company is now set to invest approximately USD 60 million in its Sri City manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh.
Mandy Glew, President, Ball Beverage Packaging EMEA & Asia, stated that India is a key focus of the company’s global strategy. She said the investment reflects Ball’s commitment to expanding operations in high-growth markets and staying competitive in the long term. As the company advances its expansion in Taloja and Sri City, it continues to explore additional opportunities in India, driven by increasing preference for aluminium packaging among brands and consumers.
Ball’s investment is expected to directly benefit the Indian beverage can market, which is projected to grow at around 10% annually over the next five years. With consumers shifting toward more sustainable and convenient packaging—especially in the dairy segment—new product categories are emerging rapidly. Aluminium packaging is becoming the preferred choice for ready-to-drink beverages and dairy-based drinks. Through its retort innovation technology, Ball helps enhance product shelf life while preserving taste and nutritional integrity, positioning the company as a leader in driving packaging transformation across India's evolving beverage landscape.
Manish Joshi, Regional Commercial Director – Asia, Ball Beverage Packaging India, said the expansion marks an important milestone for the Indian team. He emphasised that this investment strengthens Ball’s ability to serve customers with greater speed, flexibility, and reliability. He added that the company is proud to contribute to local skill development and strengthen partnerships with local suppliers and customers—supporting growth, sustainability, and India-focused technical innovation.
Since entering the Indian market in 2016, Ball Corporation has expanded steadily through its facilities in Taloja and Sri City. The company manufactures a wide range of beverage cans (185 ml, 250 ml, 300 ml, 330 ml, and 500 ml) for leading global and domestic brands.
