Udaipur | Udaipur has become the national hub of the beauty and hair industry as renowned beauty artists and hair experts from across the country converge for the first-ever National Convention of the Hair & Beauty Federation of India (HBFI), titled “Manthan”.

The convention, to be held on January 7 at Hotel Inder Residency, will witness in-depth deliberations on key issues such as the formation of a Hair Art Board, awareness against fake and duplicate cosmetic products, education, health, safety, and overall development of the beauty and wellness sector.

On Tuesday, several eminent personalities of the industry arrived in Udaipur, including Harish Bhatia, Savio John Pereira, Shyam Bhatia, Uday Takke, Neeta Parekh, and many other well-known artists.

A United Platform for an Unorganised Sector

National Vice President Uday Takke shared that the Hair & Beauty Federation of India was formed during the Covid period, a time when the beauty and hair industry faced unprecedented challenges. What began as a collective effort has now grown into a nationwide federation spanning almost all Indian states, bringing together over 100 associations related to beauty, makeup, and hairstyling.

Approximately 250 selected delegates from 15 states will participate in this landmark convention.

Fashion, Creativity & Policy Discussions

National President Ashok Paliwal informed that the convention will begin with an inaugural session, followed by an exclusive fashion show, where around 15 models will showcase creative hairstyling and beauty artistry from across India.

In the second session, detailed discussions will be held on 13 major agenda points, after which key resolutions will be passed.

Major Demands & Future Vision

Addressing the media, federation leaders highlighted the need to organise the largely unorganised beauty sector. The federation aims to:

Establish Hair Art Boards in all states

Ensure adequate government budgets for these boards

Appoint professionals from the industry as board chairpersons

Extend the board tenure to four years

Promote health, safety, and education for beauty professionals

Create awareness against chemical-based cosmetics

Introduce pension schemes for professionals

Advocate for Padma Shri awards for deserving artists

Focus on business development and national unity

A national-level committee will be formed to present these demands to the government.

Prominent attendees include Nirmal Randhawa (Secretary), Harish Bhatia, Shyam Bhatia, Savio John Pereira, Indira Ahluwalia, Seema J. Rajani, Madhumita Saikia, Neeta Parekh, Pinky Singh, Vipul Chudasama, Vipin Dabas, along with Blossom Kochar, Chairperson, and Monika Behl, Director of the Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC).
